When it comes to foundation, Urban Decay know what’s what. World renowned for their impressive shade range, unrivalled longevity, and fool-proof formulas, owning an Urban Decay foundation is pretty much a beauty rite of passage. To help you figure out which one to go for, we touched base with Urban Decay’s global makeup artist, Danielle, and got the inside scoop on two of the most coveted makeup products around. Scroll for everything you need to know.
Stay Naked Foundation
Texture: Lightweight liquid
Coverage: Medium
Best for: All skin types
Finish: Modern matte
Apply with: Diffusing highlighter brush
Danielle says:
“My favourite quality about the Stay Naked Foundation is that it lasts for 24 hours, even without the help of the All Nighter Setting Spray. In a world where we are all having to wear masks, it’s important that our makeup lasts a long time and is fully transfer-proof. It’s also both buildable and customisable, making it our most universally flattering foundation. It has a modern matte finish without being super matte or super drying, so you can wear it if you have oily or dry skin.”
Stay Naked Powder Fix Foundation
Texture: Lightweight powder
Coverage: Medium, buildable
Best for: Oily skin types
Finish: Matte
Apply with: Charcoal infused sponge (included)
Danielle says:
“Traditionally, people with dry skin run to the hills when you come near them with a powder foundation, but the Stay Naked Powder Fix is actually infused with moringa seed oil, meaning that even if you do have dry skin, it will set down nicely. It’s also perfect for oily skin types as the powder formula fixes your makeup and locks it down. I like to set the centre of the face with the powder and keep the outer perimeters of the face quite dewy and fresh with the foundation.”
Finding Your Shade
Danielle says:
“Focus on finding your master tone first, where that be cool, warm, or neutral. If you have a pink undertone to your skin, your master tone will likely be cool, if you have a yellow undertone, you’ll be warm, and if you’re unsure then always go for neutral as you’re probably a mixture of both. The great thing about the Urban Decay foundations is that they enable you to really deep dive into finding your perfect match with seven undertones and three master tones to choose from.”
