Festival season is here, which means that (as well as planning our outfits and festival makeup looks) it’s once again time to streamline our extensive skincare routines down to just a few steps. When you’re living in a tent in a field for a weekend, where your main priorities are catching the next act and having fun with your friends, your usual skincare commitments can slip right down the agenda. But do yourself a favour – at least try and take your makeup/glitter/face gems off and slap some moisturiser on before you crawl inside your sleeping bag. To make things a little easier, we’ve got a quick and simple skincare routine together, so you have one less thing to think about.
Whilst you’re at it, why not check out our top festival nail ideas?
1. Face Wipes
As much as we like to minimise our beauty waste, wipes are a must-have at a festival. They may not give skin a deep cleanse, but they are the quickest and easiest way to remove makeup from your face. If you’re not a face wipe kinda person, use cotton pads and a micellar water instead. But either way, be sure to follow up with a face wash to give skin a more efficient cleanse.
2. Cleanser
When it comes to washing your face, you want to keep things simple – now is probably not the time for a double cleanse or your weekly exfoliation treatment. Instead, stick to gebtle gel cleansers – they’re refreshing, effective at cleansing your skin, and won’t upset or disrupt your skin’s natural balance. What’s even better is finding one that’s available in a travel size, making it ideal for packing in your festival bag.
3. Moisturiser
Next up is moisturiser (yep, you can get away with skipping your serums for a few days). If you’re planning on drinking and partying until the early hours, then you’re going to want to make sure you keep the moisture levels in your skin topped up 24/7. Forget having separate day and night creams – all you need is a single no-fuss option that does a great job at keeping your skin soft, smooth, and hydrated. The ones below also make for really good bases for makeup – moisturiser really is a multi-tasking must-have.
4. SPF
If there’s only one thing that you remember to apply, make it your SPF. EVen if it’s cloudy, with the time you’ll be spending outside, you’re going to want to make sure that your skin is protected from UV rays. No one likes sun burn (or long-term skin damage), especially when you should be living your best life at a festival. Look for formulas that are lightweight, hydrating, and give a healthy glow to your skin.
5. Face Mist
To keep your skin feeling fresh all day (and night) long, you’re going to want to pack a face mist. Whether it’s a wake-me-up first thing in the morning, a pick-me-up mid-afternoon, or a freshen-me-up after hours of dancing, a face mist will deliver all the soothing, hydrating, refreshing benefits. Again, look for a miniature size so you can keep it in your handbag for on-the-go.
6. Spot Patches
Spending multiple days partying and sleeping in a field may result in the inevitable – an unexpected breakout. But don’t worry, we’ve got it covered. The By BEAUTY BAY Hydrocolloid Spot Patches are your saviours. These hydrocolloid patches help to protect and reduce breakouts.
