As someone who experiences dark circles and dryness in the eye area, the skin around my eyes has definitely been through it. I regularly wake up to sore, flaky skin and I’ve always been super insecure about my dark circles, which tend to get worse when I’m stressed and don’t sleep well. Add to that my constant worry about wrinkles and crow’s feet, and you’ll see why eye care is top of my skincare agenda. Needless to say, I’ve been on the hunt for an eye cream that really works for the longest time.
I’ve tried so many eye creams that don’t work that I’m now incredibly sceptical about eye creams and what they claim to do. It’s also been hard to find an eye cream that ticks all of my boxes – since most seem to focus only on one concern. I was recently recommended CeraVe’s Eye Repair Cream and since I already love the CeraVe cleansers and moisturiser, I decided to give it a go.
When I was reading reviews of the eye cream I noticed many people saying that it was good for eczema in the eye area, so I knew that meant it would be good for my dry skin, too. The ingredients list also swayed my decision – a concentrated cocktail of ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid, all of which are amazing for nourishing dry skin. Hyaluronic acid and ceramides are famous for their water-retention properties since they both help to repair a damaged skin barrier, and niacinamide is renowned for its ability to soothe the skin and correct uneven skin tone.
A little definitely goes a long way as the formula is so velvety and rich, but it’s also incredibly quick to absorb, so it melts into my skin instantly without leaving a greasy finish. Upon application my eye area immediately feels refreshed and replenished – I knew after just one use that I was onto a winner.
The before and afters are incredible. I noticed a significant difference between days 10 and 12 of my two-week trial of consistent AM and PM use – my under eyes are now noticeably brighter and smoother and definitely make me look more awake. In addition, the cream has really helped to soothe the irritation I was experiencing from dryness, and I know longer feel flaky, rough texture in my eye area. No eye cream I’ve ever used has performed this well, so it’s safe to say I won’t need to try another one soon.
